Yes it's on, no it isn't. Well it was up and running every Wednesday until a couple of months ago when all of the table top/car boot sales operated in this area. However, the ayuntamiento [Town hall] decreed that all existing licenses had expired and they would not renewing them in the future. The rumour was that many traders were selling new items, thus using these mini markets to trade without registering as businesses in Spain. The legitimate businesses had complained because they had to pay for overheads and found it hard to compete.
However, last week there was a surprising u-turn. The Celtic Isle had obtained new paperwork and opened its doors once again to it's Wednesday market. However, mid way through the morning something bizarre happened. The Guardia Civil turned up and closed it down.
The phrase 'The left hand doesn't know what the right hands doing' springs to mind.'
That's Spain for you!
